Items Unacceptable as Baggage
You must not include in your Baggage:-
These items MUST NOT be carried on the aircraft.
- Compressed gases deeply refrigerated flammable, non-flammable and poisonous.
- Explosives munitions fireworks and flares.
- Corrosives acids, alkalis mercury and wet cell batteries.
- Radio-active material.
- Flammable liquids and solids, lighter, fuel matches or any kind paints, thinners and fire-lighters.
- Poison weed-killer insecticides and live virus or bacteria
- Oxidizing materials, peroxides and bleaching powder.
- Other items which are irritating or offensive materials or magnetised materials
We accept for carriage firearms. However, prior special arrangements must be made and strict criteria met. Please contact our Call Centre or our Operations team for details.
There are some restricted articles which can be carried in checked baggage but only special precautions. These are:-
- Wet Cell Batteries
- Butane Hair Stylers
- Small Oxygen and Carbon
- Dioxide Cylinders
- Dry Ice and Cooking Oil.
However you must advise us and obtain confirmation from us in advance of the flight date that we are able to accept such items.
Items you MUST NOT include in your Checked Baggage
- Precious Metals
- Personal Electronic Devices
- Car or House Keys
- Share Certificates Bonds and other Valuable Documents
- Business Documents
- Passports or other Identification Documents
- Fragile or Valuable Items
- Perishable Foods or other Items
Items not be carried on board or in cabin baggage
- Toy or Replica Guns plastic or metal
- Billiard Snooker or Pool Cues
- Laser pens
- Personal Attack Alarms
- Tradesman's Tools
- Knives with Blades of any length
- Household Cutlery
- Razor Blades
- Paper Knives
- Sporting Bats
- Hypodermic Syringes unless supported by medical evidence
- Knitting Needles
- Swords Archery Bows and Arrows or similar
- Self-Heating Drinks or Food
- Any other item which in our reasonable opinion could be used to endanger the aircraft or any of the passengers or crew.
We do not accept animals / pets for carriage on our aircraft.
Free baggage allowance
Checked baggage - BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE IS 20KGS for ADULTS and 15KGS for CHILDREN under 12 years inclusive of cabin carry-ons. Items in excess of that weight will not be accepted for carriage as Checked Baggage. Priority will always be given to carriage of Checked Baggage within the applicable load factor of a particular flight.
Excess Baggage will be charged at Kshs. 500 per Kilogram (subject to change without notice). Excess baggage will not be guaranteed on the same flight as this will depend on the load factor of the flight.
Right to refuse carriage
We will refuse to carry as Baggage any item reasonably considered by us to be unsuitable for carriage because of its size, shape, weight, content, character, or for safety or operational reasons. Information about unacceptable items is available upon request.
We will refuse to accept Baggage for carriage unless it is in our reasonable opinion, that your Baggage is properly secured in suitable containers. Information about packing and containers unacceptable to us is available upon request.
Right of search
For reasons of safety and security, we will submit you and your baggage to a search or X-ray scan. If you are not available, your Baggage may be searched in your absence for the purpose of determining whether you are in possession of or whether your Baggage contains any item described as a prohibited item. If you are unwilling to comply with our requirements, we will refuse to carry you and your Baggage. In the event a search or scan causes damage to you or your Baggage, we shall not be liable for such damages.
Upon delivery of Baggage, we will issue a Baggage Identification Tag for, each piece of your Checked Baggage.
Checked Baggage must have your name or other personal identification affixed to it.
Checked Baggage will, whenever possible, be carried on the same aircraft as you, unless we decide for safety, security or operational reasons to carry it on an alternative flight. If your Checked Baggage is carried on a subsequent flight we will deliver it to you, unless applicable law requires you to be present for customs clearance, or the reason for carriage of the Baggage on another aircraft is related to the size, weight or character of the Baggage or your failure to comply with our Conditions of Carriage.
You must ensure that your Checked Baggage and Unchecked Baggage are sufficiently robust and well secured to withstand the usual and normal rigours of carriage by air without sustaining damage (except fair wear and tear) and that they are properly locked.
We will specify maximum dimensions and/or weight for Unchecked Baggage which you carry onto the aircraft. Unchecked Baggage which you carry onto the aircraft must fit under the seat in front of you or in an enclosed storage compartment in the cabin of the aircraft. If your Unchecked Baggage cannot be stored in this manner, or is of excessive weight, or is considered unsafe for any reason, it must be carried as Checked Baggage.
Collection and delivery of checked baggage
You are required to collect your Checked Baggage as soon as it is made available at your destination or Stopover. Should you not collect it within reasonable time, we may charge you a storage fee. Should your Checked Baggage not be claimed within three (3) months of the time it is made available, we may dispose of it without any liability to you.
Only the bearer of the Baggage Check and Baggage Identification Tag, is entitled to delivery of the Checked Baggage. We cannot take any responsibility for ensuring that the bearer of the Baggage Check is entitled to delivery.
If a person claiming Checked Baggage is unable to produce the Baggage Check and identify the Baggage by means of a Baggage Identification Tag, we will deliver the Baggage to such a person only on condition that he or she establishes to our satisfaction his or her right to the Baggage.
